Steps to upgrade to Windows 10 for free:

Step 1:  install the latest Windows updates on your PC (DO THIS ANY TIME)

Windows 8 machines:

1. press Windows key+C
2. Click Settings
3. Click Change PC Settings
4. Click Update and Recovery on the left pane
5. Click download or install button to update your PC.

Windows 7 machines:

1. Click the Start button
2. Click Control Panel
3. Search for Windows Update
   
4. Click Check for updates
5. Select all of the updates
6. Click Install updates

After the updates are installed, the Get Windows 10 app should be installed on your computer. This app lets you reserve your copy of Windows 10.

Here’s how to reserve your FREE copy of Windows 10:

1. Make sure to follow steps above to upgrade first
2. Click the Windows icon on the system tray
3. Click Reserve your free upgrade
4. Enter your email address to receive confirmation of your reservation (“your upgrade has been reserved”)
   NOTE: There is a Cancel reservation button if you want to cancel your reservation
